Would Alex Haley Hang This On His Wall?

The Illustration Friday word of the week is ROOTS. Ok, I could explain something clever, witty & insightful here, but I think it speaks for itself.

All right, I give. Here's a nugget: The world you see, hear, touch, smell and taste is NOT the real world. It is just a model of the real world created in our minds based on the data we receive from our senses. In fact, being aware of our own brains, which houses our minds, puts the model of the brain inside of our minds, giving you TWO brains, one inside of the other. And once you realize that fact, there are THREE minds, and so forth and so forth into a chain of infinite minds, all inside of your own head. (For more mind blowing shit, read something by Robert Anton Wilson, like the Illuminatus Trilogy- coauthored by Robert Shea.)

i think my mind is too little for this, but I love webby!! (i'm the kind of person who automatically covers my eyes during all the violent bits in a movie.)

you are a brilliant original Tony!thanks for dropping by. I don't have much time to surf and your site/your mind is the most entertainment I've had in a while. (that sounds sad doesn't it?)

slightly sleep deprived mom signing off...

p.s. i promise to share the cow theory of the universe with my son when he is old enough.

I love the roots coming out of the head, esp I like the white bright against the black ground. Cool, a little scary, but cool. Now about the cows. They seem to be living even more in the fast lane these days. To see a cheap Hollywood Cow Starlet, you can go to Hardee's web page and see their cow milkshake commercial. Yes, where the cow gets shaken by the guy. Now here's the sell out, the cow has a fake udder for the commercial, yes, it's a Hollywood cow with a boob job. Can't cows just be happy with their bodies the way they are??? OH, oh, oh my.

Too true, Jacquline. However, we were talking about actual bovine females on the farm, NOT Britney Spears...

it's totally inexplicable, but in a good way. the texture, too cool - looks like spun cotton candy. but sometimes that's what i think my brain is made of anyway. nice illo!

it doesn't look so heavy afterall...maybe-because the colors coming out are different- the color that can either be in the middle between life and death if not properly cared-i thought maybe if we don't get to relax our mind....

Okay...it's you and you've grown antlers in anticipation of mating season! Kidding aside...I like the treatment of the roots. They seem like they're made out of fibers. I also like all the explosive action that your line work conveys. Good job. And you're just a bit crazy :>>>

Thank you all for your kind comments (I'm afraid I went around the bend a while ago, Carla.) Lyn- the bg pic is the same photo of me on the right- it's just had some photoshop hocus-pocus done to it. (And welcome, Lyn's bro!)

woah another mind-blowing perception shed upon by the great Tony Larocca! (hehe)
I first thougt the lines "The world you see...is NOT the real world. It is just a model of the real world created in our minds based on the data we receive from our senses." came from the philosophy of Plato's analogy of the cave (Republic). But reading along.. your post has a new twist to it 8)

and you have a cool illo to attach too!

I like the root coming out of his eye... now, if you could just make that Roots metaphor come full circle and somehow get Geordie Laforge's banana-clip eye visor in there somewhere...

love, me

Elena- not forgetting, of course, that Geordi was played by Levar Burton, who was in a certain TV miniseries called... (no, I'm not thinking of "Reading Rainbow")

Open those neural floodgates, it's the mind-blowing Tony LaRocca ! Kewl idea for 'Roots' dude!
As a bit o' trivia (you probably already know this) we all actually see the world around us...upside-down. Our eyes reflect the visible world on the back of our eyeballs in a flipside fashion, thereby confirming the fact that we rilly do turn reality on it's head...

Oh, yeah...before I forget. Levar Burton was also briefly on 'The Great Space Coaster'.
:-D

Sounds like my philosophy class in high school; I always enjoyed it.

As always, you shared your unique vision of the topic in a wonderful way! *G*

Are those roots growing into his head, or out of it? Either way, kind of creepy. It'd make a great cover for a progressive metal CD!

The Illuminati trilogy - now there's a forgotten masterpiece...
