Do the Monster Mash

Even monsters like to sit in their bathrobes & have a nightcap.

Day 5, and I still can’t walk, still can’t sit for more than five minutes before the pain in my feet & back tell me that if I don’t get up NOW I will be in agonizing pain for the next two hours. I could be using this time to write, to work on False Idols, to play Civ 4... I go to the MRI on Tuesday & the doctor on Thursday. Until then...

I’ve been reading Dr. Sarno's books about back pain, as recommended by Howard Stern, of all people. His theory is that all back pain is the result of repressed rage & anxiety. The sub-conscious cuts off oxygen to muscles to cause pain in order to distract us from emotions we don’t want to deal with. All you have to do is accept this in your sub-conscious & you shall be healed. Obviously, the solution is to become a serial killer so my pain will go away. So if you see someone in your neighborhood, naked save for a ski mask & New Balance sneakers (& socks so I don’t get blisters) wielding a butcher's knife, you'll know it's me. Although 'till I kill enough to heal my back, I'll probably be in a wheelchair.

That monsters robe is filthy. He shouldn't bring his work home with him.
That sucks about your back. So, becoming a monster would heal that?
love

Nice drawing. It's comforting to know that monsters get to relax too. Hope your back gets better.

Strange theory! NOT EVERYTHING IS A SOMATISATION! I'm so sad you have that back problem! Hope you will be fine soon! And killing all the people in the world would not help.... I think... :)

Monster in a bathrobe. Of course I love it -- how could I not?

Back spasms/pain is a miserable, awful thing. Small comfort, but it will get better.

In the meanwhile, will keep a watch out for nekkid guys in running shoes with knives.

Nice illo.

Naked serial killer? Wasn't that SciFi oringal?

Tai Chi or Qigong might help. Hope you heal soon.

I like the concept that they kick back and relax after a hard day of scaring. Great job and hope your feels better soon.

Your monster looks very sad - if he is a reflection of your pain I'd say it was less rage than saddness that all the colours of your blankie have come out in the wash ;-)

Hope you are well soon. I'll send you all the healing I can if you are happy to accept some.

You should think about oilpainting... I've heard it is good for the rage problem, and probably wouldn't get you locked up for so long:)))) So sorry to hear about your back:( I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Your monster does look sad, like his best monstering days are behind him and he just doesn't have his heart in it anymore, maybe it's time for a change for him too... perhaps an Italian suit and a tophat? *giggle*
Get well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay for doing the monster, Tony! I broke my rule and peeked at yours before I posted mine (not ready yet). A fine-looking alienesque chap yours is, with loads of charisma, even if he doesn't look that happy!

What's the news? Is it a damaged disc, vertebrae, or what? There are likely to be choices of therapies, depending on what it is - it'll be worth looking into your options once you know what's going on.

Best wishes!

Poor Tony! I hope your back gets better...but please don't become a serial killer. I think the monster is your doppelganger...you're home in your bathrobe and feeling very blue about your back. Get well soon!

I love your Monster-At-Rest. :0)

I'm so sorry to read about your back problems! I've had my share and I know that agony so well. Mine originated with a car accident, but still there may be some truth to Stern's hypothesis. I carry my stress in my back and shoulders so that when I've been holding on to anger and tension for too long, I wind up incapacitated and visiting my chiropractor.

Perhaps I should become a serial killer too. If caught I can always tell them that Howard Stern and Tony LaRocca told me to do it. *G*

Feel better soon!

Love the monster. Sorry to hear about your back, hope it is better by now. I can empathize. Have 2 protruding disks L4 and L5. My advice: stretch every day.
