The Lost Art of Communication

Illustration Friday: Communication

I'm having fun seeing what explanations people come up with for what they see here. Last week, my illustration depicted Gravity ripping off the wings of Man, keeping us bound to the Earth. I think this week's illustration is a little more self-explanatory.

I'm on the bus. I'm cold, wet & tired. A friend's father died a few weeks ago, shoveling snow. Another friend is getting married in a few weeks, now that NJ is allowing same-sex unions. I’ve been having dreams about friends I’ll probably never see again. A cousin is having a party for her son's first birthday.

Life goes on.

Great work Tony. All kinds of fun stuff going on here, all of which I'm not quite sure of what to make of. Anyhow, I always hate it when I hear my mom tell me over the phone how long my dad's been out shoveling snow, being he's not in the best of health. The snow can be pretty but I'm looking forward to it being gone now.

Was your sketch drawn with a digital pen and tablet?

I want to come up with something profound Tony, honest! To me, it looks like information coming from one sourse (the Universe?, the geniuses before us?)into our open minds and depending on how we interpret the info being communicated...we'll see what comes out! I sound really stupid, don't I?

Oh man. I couldn't even begin to give this illo an explanation other than weird things happen in eights? Very creative though. Love the expressions!

This illo is mind-blowing. *G*

Congratulations to your friends on their wedding. Other than that, though, you sound really tired. Take care of you.

hey Tony, just thought I'd drop by and see what you're up to....I see. Uh huh. Yeah, I know. Totally.

I've long wondered aloud how it is that we can even manage to get a pizza delivered, since people's communication styles (or lack thereof) differ so wildly.

shine on you crazy diamond

and take care awright?!

hi tony! I have not been here lately-much to my regret.

well, over here's not so much snow but i feel like i am dying because it is so cold over here esp. last week. anyway, it seems that there are more you wanted to tell and share but you also need some time off and relax....i hope you'll do and yet, you will start thinking again and you'll be eager to talk about it. well. can't wait for your next post.

tca- (you have a fascinating blog, btw.) I drew it on my Axim x51v pocket pc. I really have to get myself a tablet pc, when I have the $.

Isay- I'm sorry, I forgot (she asked me who I thought should be president.) I'll write it tomorrow on the subway, I promise! :)

Studio- you don't sound stupid at all. No stupidity communicated :)

looks like the rashoomon affect

md- One of my favorite "I'm probably the only one who got that" moments was in an episode of "The Sopranos." There was a very bad stand-up comedian at the nursing home who tells the following joke: "Anyone ever see the Polish version of Rashomon? Everyone remembers it the same!"

A very intelligent being, who has eyes that look like a horizontal 8, puts eight amazing ideas in a numbsculls head, that numbscull passes those ideas, [highly misunderstood by the numbsculls brains] on to his best friend, who is also a numbscull, he invents the number 8-he's a genius Communication can be powerful. Or I'm the numbscull and don't have a clue. Anyway

Thanks for your comment, I checked out Mr. Aarden's "Humdrum", on Atom, fascinating work, I was honored my piece reminded you a little of his work.

This reminds me of when you fill your mind then you tell someone a secret and it comes out totally different! Love it!
