For
the past couple of decades, I've watched as conservatives kept getting
pushed further and further out of online forums, and long-standing IPs
were hijacked by the far left. And if anyone on the right complained,
the resounding answer was that their right to free speech was not being
infringed upon, because corporations are not bound by it. The First
Amendment is only applicable to the United States government. It's not
censorship if you're not being locked up for using it.
Now,
I'm a fan of Colbert, and I have no doubt that he is being shut down
because of his comments on the great diseased orange urine sample who
currently befouls the Oval Office. My point is not, "Suck it, libs, it's
your turn." It's that maybe we should all admit that - especially when
credit card companies are now dictating which video games can and can't
be sold - there's more to censorship and the ideal of free speech than
just whether or not you're arrested for it.
